Fixing bricked FTDI chips

Fixing the FTDI drivers – prevent auto updates

Use FTDI driver version 2.08.14

Use FTProg version 2.8.2.0 to fix PID number

Must manually change the driver as it does not autodetect the 0000 PID driver for some reason

Once it is detected but not working you can use the FTProg program to change the PID back to 6001 at which point it will be detected by the original drivers

  • Must remove driver 5.25.0 version from 8 / 2014 !! or it will change the PID back to 0000 in C:\Windows\System32\DriverStore\FileRepository
  • Also do “uninstall Device” in your device manager, and check the “uninstall driver” box too
