Samsung 960 Evo 1TB SSD Review and testing results on X99 MB with 6800K CPU

These new NVME PCIe SSDs have some amazing speeds (3,200MB/s!!!), the interface is x4 standard PCIe lanes. The Samsung 960 EVO 1TB seems to be the best price/performance point right now for NVME SSDs, with $0.48 per GB as of 12/2016 basically on release day…

Keep in mind that if you want to use this drive as a boot drive your motherboard must support botting from NVME hard drives. If it comes with a built in M2 slot with 4x PCIe lanes then chances are it does. But older motherboards without the built in slot may not have bios/chipset support even if you can fit one in with a M2 to PCIe slot adapter.

Luckily my Gigabyte (GA-X99-Ultra Gaming) motherboard supports M2 NVME native booting and combined with the Intel Core i7-6800K Processor which has 28 lanes of PCIe available the max performance of this SSD is possible.
